ok i forgot to add i drove my frist rx-7 on saturday.
things that i found cool.
1st it rode great, awsome for a car that is almost 20 years old.
quieter then my 04 cavy on the inside.
at 4k it didn't sound like it was work hard at all.
very very smooth.

down sides.
exhaust was too quiet
the red line buzzer maybe me grind 2nd. i thought i broke the car
the throw needs to be shorter.
and on this one i drove. the head light covers don't match the body color. one black and one bright red. car is a darker met red.

the problems can be fixed easly so i put a deposit down. it is a 1987 base. with cruise. 5-speed.

Haha a quiet FC, I haven't heard of htat. Mine's stock echaust but rusted through so it's loud as hell. The throw is too long on these, and you shouldn't be shifting at the buzzer too much, you'll lose all gas mileage and your engine won't likeit if it becomes a common thing (for races it's a definate). The buzzer is a good thing htough. It's your friend, hear the buzzer, and shift.

Did someone make 200hp without porting one time or got real close to it. But yes teh buzzars are your friends. You said the throw was long check your shifter bushings may need replaced. Although I dont really know what a long throw is in a car, to used to driving semis.

you can buy a short shifter if your having trouble with the throws.

Personally i use castro gtx high milage oil 20/50. i asked taht same question a long time ago and thats what alot of people recommended to me.

I love my redline buzzer people that first ride in it think someones honking at me.

i am looking to get a short throw and i was told to do a tune up also. now my guess would be new plugs, wires, oil change, check the coolant, maybe get it flushed, check tranny, lube, maybe check, same with the diff. anything esle can you guys recommed. also any type of plugs or wires you guys had a good turn out with would be good. what size exhaust would be good.

Ok I saw a few things that should be cleared up...

I would honestly avoid running synthetic oil UNLESS you remove and block off the OMP (oil metering pump)... The reason Mazda discouraged the use of synthetic oil is because it can leave deposits when injected into the combustion chamber... It's perfectly fine to run synthetic oil in the crankcase... Granted, synthetic oils have become alot better since the car was still a young buck... I still prefer natural oil unless the OMP is disabled though...

Umm... TII plugs are the same as N/A plugs... BUR7EQ for the leading and BUR9EQ for the trailing...

A T3 turbo is a POS that doesn't belong on a rotary... Too small...

Oh one more thing...

Well the stock TII turbo is larger than most T3's... Best bet for an "upgrade" would be something with a T4 footprint... If you're interested in converting your N/A to turbo, check Aaron Cake's thread about turbo'ing the 6-port N/A motor... Search "6-port turbo" and you'll find it... You can also do a complete TII swap... I would recommend keeping it N/A for awhile to see if you can even handle the "eccentricities" of the rotary (pun intended)...

+1 on synthetics, dont use them UNLESS you use idemitsu or royal purple. those two burn clean, and both withstand high operating temperatures. i run idemitsu and swear by it, but it isnt cheap

Mmm, yes, the rectangular tips are extremely common on country-boy Camaro's (like where I live...) but not on trucks. Never seen one on any RESPECTABLE muscle car, I.E. a Corvette or Mustang and the like...

I am running royal purple and it runs good and feels stronger. royal purple and idemitsu has been recommended by a lot of rotary performance companies and mazdaspeed, Mazdatrix, Racing Beat, etc. recommends them as well. I wouldnt buy any other brand of synthetic. Its be happy for what you pay for. So either coventional oil or synthetic oil which should only be royal purple and idemitsu.

i wouldn't use any engine oil cleaner in a rotary. and its not recommended. You have to get the Mazda Engine Flush. Well, at least thats what I am gonna do.
