Question new rebuild exhaust sparks

ok i got my car to run roday an i was letting it idle when my friends sayed matt look. i went to the back of the car an little tiny tiny sparks were coming out. Im kinda scared no cause my car is running like a honda with 3 plugs. Could it be my cat or my resinator going out,or is it normal on a new rebuilt motor. please someone help me out.there little little sparks like u just see the flash or them an there gone.

I dont envision that ever being normal, new rebuild or not.

Quit running the car til you figure it out

i dont think so. Ill have to check. But i pulled my exhaust an there was no sign of anything in the down pipe or turbo. No little metal peice or anything weird. So im thinking maybe my cat is taking a poo on me. If my cat is going back will that happen?

Perhaps you are seeing the results of the break in procedure. If the seals are making their new home in the housing in the seating process some very small amount of material is going to be removed? With out any unburned oxygen to ignite them these tiny particles exit the exhaust then ignite causing the spark that you see? Just a guess.

I don't know, I've read many rebuild related threads and have never heard about sparks out the exhaust.

I would have guessed your cats are shredding. Unbolt your exhaust from behind the header and watch.

That'd be a red flag to me. It begs the question: why did he weld it? Was it failing? Rusty? Something else??

the welds on the cat look pretty strong to me. But this just started happening after i started using two cylce oil. so im thinking maybe it clogged up my cat from using to much to try to get it to start.

Strong welds doesn't mean the internals are any good.
