Question New pulsation damper leaking?

I paid 135 bucks for a new one from mazdatrix. I put it on last weekend. Today I smelled gas. I can see liquid under the UIM. Has anyone else had this happen? I think it has to be the PD. I have all new hoses. Maybe it's leaking around the crush washer, but I doubt it. I'm wondering if those parts are left over from 1988? If they're old the rubber would be shot, even if they weren't used, if they were stored in a warehouse without climate control.

Take off your UIM, pressurize the system, and find out what's leaking.

That's my plan, but it sucks that I have to do that. I just changed the engine, and I'm kinda tired of working on cars right now.

Did you reuse the old crush washers? If you did, they can leak. Also if you overtightened and split them.

wait, do you have to pull the injectors to change the PD? b/c it's easy to not seat them correctly and leak

I re-used the crush washers, and that may be the problem. I have a new one (the special one) to put on, if that's the problem. I cleaned and de-burred the old ones before I re-used them. I was just curious to see if anyone had a new PD leak on them. I hope it's just the washers. Luckily I have something else to drive. It's too cols to work on it right now. You don't have to remove the injectors to change the PD. When I changed the engine I had my injectors professionally serviced. They're not leaking.
