new O2, new gauge, but wont work?
new O2, new gauge, but wont work?
Im trying to put a narrow band gauge in just temp until my wideband gets here for the 10th AE. I ran the red to power, black to ground, and the green to the only wire coming out of the O2, but the gauge wont work. Is there some special trick to make it work? It has power at the gauge wire, and the ground is good, and i dont think its possible to screw up taping the wire into the only wire on our O2. Any help?
The shield runs the distance of the O2 lead down to just before it plugs into the ecu. Near the ecu is the best place to hook it up. No fussing with splicing and such near the exhaust heat.
What color is the wire? i put a volt meter on it, and with the selector in the 200M spot the o2 read 12.4 at idle, but i got 231 with it on 2000M
Its suppose to read 0-1v. That wire coming off the O2 is a ground wire.
On a Series4, the o2 sensor wire is Green with Yellow strip at Pin 2D. Middle connector, bottom row, 2nd from the left.

There is no ground wire going to the O2 sensor as it grounds through it's threads.
The wire is basically shielded from the ECU to the green connector. The only unshielded portion is right at the ECU plug.

alright, i taped into that wire, it was blue by the way, maybe its because my car is an 88, i dunno. Anyways, now it reads solid rich, and only when the key is in the acc position. I have it taped into the cigarette lighter for power, but that still has power when the key is in the on position. Any ideas? Also, my 02 wire was broken right after the green clip and i connected it back together. Is there any way to make a better connection since the wires are sheilded, like a special way to strip them?
I fixed it! It was just a matter of stripping the wire back more, so that the sheilding where i connected the wires back together didnt touch the sensor power wire. Thanks for all the help guys.
