the new newbie!

Hey everyone just wanted to switch forum areas turns out i ended up getting a 2nd gen for 10.50. lol yes 10.50 just the rolling chasis and turbo lsd everything still is intact but the engine and transmission have been taken out. the body is in clean condition. what i was trying to figure out after reading a little bit about the engine itself but. does it needs a rebuild every 150k or as long as i keep up with maitnance cause as i think about it it sounds like an exspensive job to do. Does anyone know roughly how much a rebuild cost? Also what about the transmission do you have to rebuild that every 150k, I plan on using this as a track car not dd. but im not gonna super mod it as of yet since this is my first rwd mazda i wanna know about it more and take it from there. thank you guys for checking this out. ohh btw any clubs out here in the rancho cucamonga area? i knew of one but i cant remeber it on the top of my head. thank you!

Welcome to the Club.

A rebuild on a turb motor is *tpyically* required every 150,000kms. A rebuild can cost anywhere from 1000.00 for a rebuild kit plus your labour, on up to 3000 + depending on how much **** gets trashed.

Most builders can re-do your short block for 1500-2000 with all new seals, assuming your housings and rotors aren't garbage.

As far as a local club goes, check out the regional forums at the bottom of e main page.

well if it is going to be a track car then cut those numbers drastically, even a piston motor will not last its typical lifespan if it is just driven on the track since it's whole life is spent being beat to hell on. basically expect it to last a few seasons then expect to have to rebuild or replace the engine.
