Question new motor starting

i just picked up a motor from a buddie that was rebuilt from mazda and has never even been turned over. but it has been siiting for about 4 months. it has all the holes plugged so nothing can get in and mess it up but i was wondering if there is any special procedures that i have to do before i try to turn it over. any info would help.

Be sure to prime the oil and fuel systems before attempting to start it. A little bit of oil in the lower spark plug holes, to temporarily build up compression while turning over. That's all I can think of for now.
