New Motor How to Break It In?

I just got a new motor put in my GXL (thanks guys) and the guy at the shop said that I need to be careful with it until it "breaks in"? What does this mean? How do I do it properly so I dont mess anything up?

This new motor is MUCH faster than the last one. I hit 130mph driving home from the shop. Im kinda glad I got a new motor!! Thanks for any help you guys may have

haha 130? I guess you don't under stand what break in means.. gererally keep it udner 3k rpmss for the first 1k.. then under 5krmps for 2k miles, about then gradually take it up the redline by 3k miles.
Also change your oil at about 500 miles.

um...well you could start by taking it very easy for the first 1500 miles, keep revs under 4k and change oil after 500 miles and 1000. Just for staters...........

What kind of dumbass are you? You get a new motor put in your car and then see how fast you can make it go? Use your head man!

okay, you need to sell the car or stop posting here.

#1 If you didn't understand what the mechanic said about breaking in the motor why didn't you ask him. Breaking the motor in, means to drive easy on the motor (under 65 MPH, no sudden starts, no engine braking, etc) for the first 1000 or so miles.

#2 it is your fault if you really smoked the old engine. Not one member here. You best not post anything like that accusing members here of bad info like that again, or I will start closing all your threads and ban you. All the members that helped you here did just that. Tried to help you.

#3 driving at 130 MPH on a new motor is pretty much just the same as shooting a hole in it.

Hey im not very car knowledgable. I didnt understand what the break in thing meant. So, I need to stay under 3k rpms for 1k miles? Thats not much fun! Oh well, Better safe than sorry. I met a guy here that said he will give me $50 if I let him borrow my car to make a run to texas. He said I could use his car while he is gone. Would a nice highway drive be good for it?

You need to sell the car and use public transportation.

Why wouldn't you ask him what he meant???

I think you already killed that whole break-in procedure, but highway miles aren't adequate for break-in. You need everyday town like driving with varying rpms. You can replicate that on a highway though.

Im sorry for the comment about the old motor. Please help me make sure I dont kill this one. I cant sell my car. I know I should get something newer but I cant afford it. I was going to use the money that I spent on the new motor as a downpayment on a new car but I couldnt get approved for the loan. So, im stuck with my 7.

And the mechanic said the car is a T2 whatever that is? Does that mean its a 2 cylinder? Thanks guys

Ok, Thank you guys. I will not let him take my car to texas. I think he may have been going there for illegal activities anyways. I will tell him I cant loan out my car until it breaks in.
