The old mounts have been in there for years, and a lot of abuse.

The cost of a new set of motor mounts is, reasonably speaking, trivial compared to the cost of a rebuilt motor.

Installing new motor mounts when putting the motor in is TRIVIAL. Installing them when the motor is in the car is a lot more difficult.

Unless you have very low mileage motor mounts (as in, you blew your motor 5k miles after you replaced them last), it's a no-brainer to replace them.

It is obvioulsy easier to change them with the motor out. If it's in, then you just hook up a engine hoist and lift the motor about 2 inches and swap them out without disconnecting anything. Mounts are only $45 so you might as well do it now.
