sup guys i just bought a 1986 rx7 se with 128000 miles for $800 on ebay the guy says it runs good but i really dont know. i have to drive this car from jersey to oklahoma and ive never owned or worked on a rotary engine before. ive learnd a little by reading some of your post {good info on here}. now, i know i should rebuild the engine but i cant do that till i get it home. so what should i do to make sure this car doesent die on me and were do i take it to ,i meen can i go to jiffy lube and get a tune up on a rotary or do i have to take it to a roatry specific shop. take a look at what the guy wrote and tell me what you think i can do.

Don't drive it home.....period. Tow it somehow. You will break down i promise you, The car has no power in 4th or 5th, how are you going to take a trip that long? I say be a dead beat bidder and buy one locally...sorry to tell you this but that car is going to be more trouble then it's worth...

It is very hard to tell the nature of the problems from the description. :/

Also, dont buy a car like that if you plan to do that much work on it. You should get the car you want the first time and save the time and money.

well i really need a car now ive been without a car since last summer. all my plans for upgrading are little ways down the road, plus i suck at saving money! im going to try to get a shipping quote or see if the navy lets me ship it to puertorico from NY instead of Texas .but i will take the advise and not drive it to oklahoma i have till next wensday to decide if im going to buy it. if any one knows what the problem is and how do i fix it and if any one lives in the new york new jersey area that knows a good rotary shop or mechanich pleaze tell me thanks for the help guys

well, if you suck at saving money and you need a car, then dont buy this car. 1st of all, to keep our cars running in optimum condition (which has probably never happened for most of us) your going to have to constantly spend money to fix broken parts. you wont be able to upgrade your car until you get all the fix it **** out of the way. id go with everony elses suggestion and just find a more substantial 7.

DOOD you're in Purto Rico.....you should be able to find an rx7 there easily.....Either way I say don't get it, too much trouble to maintain. If you want a cheap car don't get a 7.......

Although we all love these cars here you might be buying this one for the wrong reason. You are buying it for 800 bucks but have no idea why its lossing power, and it says it need tlc, parts aren't the cheapest for these cars so that 800 bucks will start to go up really fast if you have to fix alot of things, The last thing i'd want to do is to turn some1 away from an rx7 but we like to look out for each other here too and you might be better off looking for one in better shape and leave that one for someone who wants a project
