New to the mazda rx7 sceen!

Hi everyone. I have just recently bought a 1986 rx7 gxl...I really dont know too much about the car and i would like to learn....one of the first things i plan on doing is to do a good tune up and i really dont know what is the best to use... i was woundering what type of oil and weight i should use in the car(new to imports also...lol) if you all could help me out i would be very greatful....and i would also like to know if anyone makes a short throw shifter for the year?...and what should be the first few upgrades i do. any help and i would be most greatful thanx.

just to beat everyone to this first.(USE THE SEARCH)...
Flush the coolant system with prestone radiator super flush(follow the directions on bottle), check all hoses and keep a eye on the temp gauge( don't let the car ever overheat), I use 20-50 oil all year--it stays hot as hell here all the time ( but rule of thumb 20-50 summer 10-40 winter- castrol is the best brand to use) don't use synthetic....try www.mazdatrix.com for short throw shifter...best upgrade is to start with is intake and exaust( get rid of those cats)!!

First welcome to the darkside....basically go ahead utilize the search feature, you will find A TON of info in how to care for your car. In regards to your question about the oil, you will find everyone has their own preferences, mine is Castrol either regular or syntec-blend 20-50.

Thanx to all that have replyed so far....as for the car it has 82k miles that are original and it runs great other than when i start up from a long period of the car in rest mode it likes to wanna stall on me but after a few sec it runs fine...i got the car for 2,500 with new paint, tires.. and a few other odds and ends.
