new idea for FCD???

What is the consensus on using a low PSI pressure regulator before the pressure sensor instead of an electronic FCD.

I know some FCD's are really bad (Racing Beat) and some are better since they are actually "clamping circuits".

I think the end result would be the same as a "clamping circuit" FCD, but only mechanical in nature.

Any thoughts?

Thanks

Hmm... i don't really know how pressure regulators work but that sounds like a good idea... sounds a hell of a lot cheaper than replacing an ECU as well

The benefit of an electronic circuit is that it will behave almost exactly the same every single time it operates, over thousands of cycles. The same cannot be said for pneumatic components, whose operation will change depending on external factors like air temp and pressure, plus the performance of any mechanical device is likely to change as it wears, unlike electronics. With something like an FCD, consistant performance is vital. It's not much use if it stops fuel cut on some days, but not others.
