Talking New hood design and a couple of other things coming soon.

I will be starting a business soon working on making some parts for a select number of cars. These including the Subaru Imprezas, FCs and S13 240SX.

So for starters I will have a hood with a vent in it. And whenI say vent I mean a vent. Not completely done yet but in the process of making the prototype model. So far the vent should measure a total of 14 inches wide by about 6 - 8 inches long and will go about 10 inches down. It will sit directly behind the radiator. Now cause of this you will loose the stock fan, radiator shroud and intake piece above the raditor shroud. So you will have to use a aftermarket electric fan. ALso if youra TII then you will not be able to use the stock TMIC and will have to use a FMIC.

Now I have not thought of a cost for this piece yet and still not sure if I will offer it in Full Carbon Fiber or Fiberglass or Both.

And since this will be a race only piece(you can use it on the street) and made out of fiberglass or carbon fiber will weigh significantly less than the stock hood and the stock aluminum hood.

Now some of the other things I will be offering for the FC will be a headlight conversion(non popup), Intake vent for the stock headlights, and polycarbonite window replacement. There will be more things but this is all that is plained for now.

Hopefully with in the next week or so I will have some pictures up of the prototype hood and maybe some other pieces.

Please also if you would be interested in this pieces post here and also leave about any coments or other things that you would like to be seen made.

Yet another pipe dream is born... best of luck to you, but history on this forum has shown 98% of all:"I AM GOING TO MAKE XXXX CF/FIBERGLASS PARTS" have FAILED TO PRODUCE.

No need for a frame Chris. How are you going to pop a hood w/ a huge vent in it?

It'll probably require hoodpins.

I'd like to see a hood that has a secondary vent above the turbo/dp location.

That is where my big KKK turbo makes the most heat in the engine bay...

hoodpins i dont care about. now on the audi, thats a different story. Dont want 2 huge chrome zits on the front of the audi.

im guessing from the discription that it will be similar to the ferrari F50 (only 1 though), or the RX01 ??

Why do you keep bringing the Audi up? I thought you officially killed it? Then sold it.

So far I see a chop saw cut in a stock hood?
Are you hand laying the glass? Using a Chopper gun? Where is your lay-up room?

Yeah no offense but it looks just like a piece of aluminum with a cut in it. If you were planning on making this I would recomend making it wider.

Hahahahaha, you people ar so funny.

Like I said it is NOT DONE YET!

So basically now its just a hole cut in the hood.

It can't be made any wider because one any more to one side would hit the radiator hose and any more the other way would hit the filler neck. Its as wide as it can get.

The picture was only to give an idea of it and also to show that something was in the works, nothing else.

well, thats what you should do... make the hood like that. but on the lead edge, where the front side of the cut is, dont make it like this: /\
just make it like this: \
get wht im saying? get rid of this: /

Oh, and you DEFNIITLY have to put a rearward facing vent directly over the turbo... we want it to draw heat out of the engine bay. The TRD GT500 MKIV Supra has one... if i can find a pic of it

Exactly...that is what I said earlier:

I'd like to see a hood that has a secondary vent above the turbo/dp location.
Others on this forum have already made a hood just like yours...I'd like to see something new...

Right, and i was reaffirming it.

If it aint broke, dont fix it. i think its pretty important to have a vent like that when the stock heat sheilds cannot be reused on an aftermarket turbo. the most important thing i see as far as as a rotary is concerned is ensuring proper fueling and sufficient cooling... a hood like this will definitly take the stock cooling system much farther before making an aftermarket radiator and whatnot absolutly necessary.
