new here. performance question

hey guys, my name is bert, i drive an accord currently but i saw the light and need an RX-7 i've been looking for a TII for about 2 months now, in my price rance, and i'm getting damn close to getting one.

anyways, i know some of you have probably sprayed nitrous on your intercoolers, but have any of you thought abuout CO2 from liike a paint ball store? its damn cold, not as cold, but would the chemistry of the CO2 deteriorrate the intercooler?

Hey, I'm glad you finally saw the light after I gave you that thrill ride last summer. In regards to your question, I really can't see a spray of CO2 having an adverse effect on the intercooler. I do wonder though if spraying such a cold gas on a hot piece of metal can fatigue it signifigantly. I've always had luck with putting a bag of ice on the intercooler between Auto-X runs, but since I'll be tossing the TMIC in favor of a huge FMIC, I should have less worries about heat soak.

I always wondered about the ice, doesn't water get all over your engine? Specifically the alternator?

You put the bag of ice on top of the intercooler. Not dump a bag worth of ice on the intercooler.

Ya I know, but doesn't it melt almost immediately? Do you run with it on there or just set it on there before you run?

When I use ice I keep it in the heavy duty bag that it comes in, and when I'm done with it I put it back into the cooler. I suppose you could set a bunch of cubes on the intercooler and close the hood, I doubt that water would leak anywhere else. However, I take my ice off right before my run, just so the intercooler is not as hot as it was before.
