new guy, couple of quick questions
ok so tonight i am going to pick up my first rotary, its an 89 vert, and i cant wait. my questions are number 1 how hard is it to rebuild these motors? i tried searching on here, and while there are alot of threads about rebuilds, none tell you how to do it. im kinda looking for a guide like the manual conversion write up that V8Kilr posted in the archives...so if anyone has one and would be so kind as to point me in the right direction i would appreciate it. also i would like to know how hard it is to turbo an NA car...or would i just be better off rebuilding/cleaning up this one, and selling it to get a turbo car?
any help is appreciated. and thanks in advance.

Good looking car!. I just took my 89 GTU NA and converted to a turbo. It has taken me about a year to complete, but it was a "tear it down to the chassis" rebuild. I took everything off of the car including the interior and suspension. I bought a used JDM motor from a guy in Miami. Everything looked good, but when we started it and ran it for 20 minutes, the front rotor threw its seals. NO BARGAIN HERE! I spent 1500 on the motor and transmission and another 2 grand to rebuild the engine myself. It needed a new rotor and both housings. I had Atkins fit it for 3mm apex seals and I am glad that I did this. IMO, it is better to buy a Turbo car from the factory and rebuild the engine or find the shell of a turbo and buy a short block from Atkins, Rotary Resurection or someone else reputable. It is expensive to do a rebuild the right way. Housings new are 600 each and a rotor new is 600. You can half A the rebuild, but don't expect to have it last a long time. If you want a good video on the rebuild, Atkins has a good one. I set up a personal DVD player in the garage and just hit pause to do each step. Its not bad, but you have to do EVERYTHING right and take your time. Hope this helps.
