new to the forums and a quick question

ok, im new to posting here but ive been reading since i got my 86 rx-7 n\a back in september. heres the story, bought the car of of budget rent a car lot for dirt cheap, but with a blown rear apex seal. not able to afford a rebuild, i find a rebuild and drop it in (my first engine replacement, how fun) and all is good. there is good compression and all is fine. three weeks later im driving to work and temps skyrocket and steam pours from under the hood. all is now bad. tow her home to find water on spark plugs and wont start, diagnosis bad water seal o-rings. well ok, found another doner engine with 1000mile old rebuild so says the guy. i put this engine in and all is good now. but there is much more power. with the second engine i was able to beat my friends v6 firebird but not by a lot. now i completely kill him.

so heres the question, could this engine be ported and is there any marginaly easy way to tell.

sorry bout the amount of reading.

You might be better off playing with the two blown motors you have and seeing if you can build one good one out if them and port that one.

I would be reluctant to port a motor that is running well and has had a recent rebuild as porting involves ripping the whole motor apart again, not just removing the "top end" as found in many piston engines.

Unless your bored and need something to do, and have a rebuild kit available.

Now porting and polishing the intake manifold is something you might consider and usually is worth 5 or 10 HP depending on how bad yours was cast in the first place.
