New to forum and need some info please

Hello everyone,
I am new to the forum, but before i ask my question, i just wanted to pointed out that i do not own a Rx-7. However, there is a certain part that i am interested in the Rx-7 that i am keen on installing on my car.

I did a search, but couldn't find what i was looking for, so here is my question:

Just how good/bad is the stock Rx-7 front mounted oil coolers? there are a few people who installed them on my car (german car ) but apparently, they don't like to share info (don't ask).

Are there any problems with the oil cooler? are there and "reasonably" prices upgrades?

I don't think there are any known issues with the oil cooler.

oil coolers are cheap, its basically a radiator for your oil.

ive never had any problems with my oil cooler, i know some of us have had leaky fittings though.

if you want an oil cooler so bad, just get an aftermarket kit. its not too hard to put together.

The stock oil coolers are good, and rarely need to be upgraded.

hey, that was quick guys, thanks a LOT! seriously.

If you guys noticed, i live in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. Don't be fooled, it is a very modern city; However, it is spring time and the weather already hits 95F now.

Summer temperatures hit 120F-140F, it get's THAT hot, yes. What upgrades can one do to the stock?

Infact, what are the dimentiones of the stock oil cooler? did they change at any time? (from 1986-1992)

Thanks again guys, you helped out a lot!

PS: Anyone here has an oil temperature gauge to give some "extra" feedback into how well the stock oil cooler really is?

I'm sure an oil temp guage wouldn't be hard to do. All you really need to do is yank your oil pan, drill it, tap it to the correct size and threads, feed a temp probe in, and do the wiring to a guage. Sounds like a cool mod actually.

I already have an oil temperature gauge installed, but not wired in yet. I was asking about the Rx-7 specifically, if anyone has installed one and could give me some feedback on what temperatures they see with the stock oil cooler

I know a couple of guys that use stock FC oil cooler for budget V6 and V8 Toyota off road racing trucks, designed for desert racing in sand dunes.

120 MPH across Nevada, Arizona, southern CA and Baja deserts.

The FC oil cooler is oversized for its application and most others.

I hope so too but still waiting for responses on anyone who measured the oil temperature on hot days (90F+)

Technically speaking, i already have two oil coolers, stock.

One is a water-to-oil type cooler, the other one has two lines coming out of the water-to-oil cooler to a front mounted air-to-oil type.

Thing is, the front mounted oil cooler has a really thick core, it does the job fine during highway driving. But in the city, that is what concerns me.

Also, not to mention, this is when driving normally (following speed limits, etc) now, imagine on the track!
