New FC owner questions
I have been on this board for awhile since I already own an FD. I just bought a 1987 RX-7 also and I have a few problems I hope someone can help me with. My sunroof will not open. I hear the motor running and like plastic gears click but it will not open. If I push up on it a little the "close button will seal it shut again" Any suggestions? I did a search on this topic, but I couldn't find anything.
Also, the owners manual suggested depressing the gas pedal once before cranking. Mine just starts up without that. Is it necessary?
The Mazda lettering on the front of the car is missing. Good place to by a replacement?
Thanks,
Tom

I purchased my RX-7 about 5 months ago and had the same problem with the sunroof. Turns out it was just really stuck.
Inside the car behind the sunroof should be a small round hole cut out of the headliner; remove the cap and you will see a place for an allen wrench. Get yourself a 5mm allen wrench, and while holding the "open" button for the roof, turn the wrench. The roof should come unstuck and open up.
I also had to push upwards on the roof to get it to pop up before it would slide back.
Once open, you should be able to clean the rails out and re-lubricate them. My sunroof works normally now.
I imagine that the depressing of the pedal is referring to the automatic choke. You really should have to do this unless it is a really cold day out when you start the car up.
Dunno about the lettering, I have a 90 GXL and the lettering is embossed into the plastic.
