New FC owner?? I need your help!

I have had a great opportunity come upon me today. Found an 86 RX7, automatic, 85k, decent shape, has a fuel leak and that is the only prob......well I found it all for 300 dollars. Its a kid selling the car because he doesnt have the time to put into the car. He has bought a stereo that he will include, and the replacement vents as well as some other parts. The car is in "decent" shape for being an 86(the paint is better than my 85 :-P ) and what I was really shocked by was the engine. It was clean, no rust, it was nice.
It sucks that it is an auto, sucks that it is NA, but hell only 300 dollars I think I am going to buy it and fix the fuel leak(a gasket or something is wrong, he said he would fix it if I wanted him to). What do you guys think? oh yea, and best part is that he has the title and would put it in my name

Sounds like a good deal even though its ....... automatic. Go for it. The fuel leak is probably something that you will need to fix really soon though

sounds like a nice deal, if it is a fuel leak make sure you get that fixed beore your car lights on fire, and do yourself a favor and go buy a fire extinguisher.

Pictures!

Went into town today to take some pictures for you guys I am really liking the looks of it after I went back again. The interior is very nice, especialy for only 300 dollars. There arent too many cracks, my 85 has more. My main question is on the underneath shot I took, I circled what looks to be a dent or a butt hole(IMG 26). It needs a new battery, and also the front grill is just a little wobbly underneath, kinda like my current 7. The driver side view mirror is gone and the front driver side tire has an air leak, flat in the photo. (I couldnt take full interior shots cuz its filled with some clothes or something, ther is an xbox, i saw a keyboard....) Anyways, let me know what you guys think! Is it worth my 300 dollars? What do you think of its shape for the price??

also how would i go about finding out what version this one is? I thought it was the very basic, but then I looked at the fact sheet and what each model came with and saw that only the GXL has cruise control, which I am pretty sure this one has. Also, I read that only the GXL has a rear window wiper? This one has the wiper and washer. I just dont think I saw any GXL emblems though, all I actually saw was just a MAZDA emblem, not even an RX7 :P I have the VIN number, how would i check it?

From: Kissimmee Fl,
its most likely a GXL because it has the adjustable suspension, and the 5 lugs. but mine also has all those options except the suspension and 5-lug. and its a base, with Cruise control and a few other things that should be on it. but urs looks like a GXL

From: Kissimmee Fl,
u see that plug/sensor thing ontop of where the front shocks are?well thats tha AAS, it probably doesnt work tho, since about 95% of the FC's that have them dont work. also there should be a switch in the interior should be rite under the shifter

oh, ok. Dont they quit working after you replace the shocks also? I would replace them with Tokico shocks as one of the first upgrades, so does AAS even really matter? I dont know too much about the FC but have been trying to learn. I own an FB, so its a little new to me.

yea pretty much its not gonna work when u change the shocks anyway and it wasnt that good of an option anyway, the normal suspension already handles pretty good

Yes, its a GXL, and the AAS thing is crap in my opinion. That car is really good at all for 300. I'd say go for it, and put some love into it. It might end up looking pretty decent. That butthole pic looks like someone tried to jack up the car and put the jack on the bottom of the spare tire well. Good luck.
