New FC owner
Hi, im new to the forums and this is my first Rx7:

http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v2...1/RX-7%20Pics/
1991 Rx-7 N/A 159,XXXmi.
Surprisingly, the car was in great condition and has never had a rebuild. The previous owner had 3 other Rx7's and kept up maintainance with this one.
There are a few problems however and I wanted to ask you guys...
1) The clock above the dash flickers on and off, sometimes based on whether im using the brakes or not, whats going on with this? (possibly bad fuse? Idk)
2) The fog lights do not work at all. I am pressing the switch on the center console (im assuming this is the right one) and nothing happens.
3) There is some rattling noise deep inside the dashboard and its very annoying
.
4) The passenger window goes up/down very slow. (probably 1/2 speed of the driver side.)
5) The car takes a lot of cranks to start up when its cold and bellows smoke after starting.
6) The Front speakers do not work at all.
The previous owner also added a test pipe and down pipe and took out the cat. making the car sound good and helping performance but also making it smell rather bad from outside and inside the car when the sunroof or windows are down. I can even smell the exhaust fumes on my clothes after driving.
What are your opinions about this, should I take off the test pipe and add a hi flow cat?
Aside from all this, I do have some plans for the car:
I want to get it repainted
Suspension, Exhaust (maybe apexi n1), and wheels (thinking about 5zigen fno1r-c in silver or bronze)
Thanks for the help, Matt

the clocks always do that. It is called bad soldier points in the chip inside the clock. Search on the net and you can find step-by-step instrutions for re-soldering them (i wont waste my time writing it)
Where exactly is the noise from the dash coming from. Cuz it could just be something not tightened down. Try to pinpoint the place
As far as the window...it the motor might be getting bad..or the window trim may ne gettting bad. Something you could do is that off the insdie trim and grease the lower portion of the molding. This helped mine a lot!
The front speakers always go out. Idk what to do...re-wire it...
lol new speaker....
The car is probably cold when it starts up. Your starter or battery might be bad and not giving the rotors enough compression

its a very common problem. its a relay inside the clock that had a cold solder point that ***** up all the time
2) The fog lights do not work at all. I am pressing the switch on the center console (im assuming this is the right one) and nothing happens.
you have to have the day or normal lights one for this, if it isnt working check the small things first like the switch then relays then the plugs etc. go on deeper into the technicals
3) There is some rattling noise deep inside the dashboard and its very annoying
.
does is sound like metal knocking or plastic????
4) The passenger window goes up/down very slow. (probably 1/2 speed of the driver side.)
try adding water to both weather strips to help the window slid, if not check voltage to the motor from there you'll know if its voltage or the motor itself. the car isn't that olds for the power window assembly to cause any problems unless someone got inside the door for something
5) The car takes a lot of cranks to start up when its cold and bellows smoke after starting.
oil thickens in cold temps so be careful with start ups let it warm up for 5 minutes and dont drive like a jerk, hard starts? it happens alot to most rotarys in the cold
theres a few reasons why search it
6) The Front speakers do not work at all.
either unplugged from the radio or speakers ot you just dont have any at all lol look around under the dash and behind the radio, if the radio is aftermarket most jerks cut and splice the wires to the radio plug and tend to mess things up like grounding on of the radio wires or something stupid like that

you have a leak some where. the test pipe or some where in the system, get under theres and check if this guy put on exhaust gaskets on connecting points, if there are check if there warn or busted up, if the smell is stronger in the engine bay you have a leak on the headers homie.... but either way its a leak just get under there with some buddys and find were it smells strongest at
