BC New FC Onwer, could use some help.

Hey guys i finally got my hands on a 1990 gxl, it has a beautiful body but 270,000 , but my mechanic said it should be good for about a year 1 or 2, by then i should have enough saved for a TII swap or rebuild. (it has a racing beat exhaust, possible entire system not too sure which one, but if i do decide to go for TII would i have to replace the exhaust system?)

Anyways i just would like to know what i should do to help maintain this beauty . One of the 1st things i am going to do is apply some rust protection (any recommendations?), oil change, other than that i am lost.

Do a full tune up. Oil, spark plugs, clutch/brake fluid, vacuum lines, coolant/heater hoses.

If you swap in a turbo motor later, the only part of the exhaust that has to change is the downpipe.
