new exhaust setup, will 5+6 ports open?

will this setup work?
i'm going to be running a stock manifold ->rb presilencer/cat replacement pipe-> to stock y-pipe -> some ebay fartcans, my OEM's are rusted out

will there be a problem with 5+6 port actuators opening?

the fartcans are kind of like a last ditch thing until i can afford RB mufflers

thanks

Do you have a s4 or s5? I am unsure but if your going to do the exhaust anyway i would just put some grease on the shafts and see if they open. Then deal with them if they dont. And bTW ebay mufflers are not that bad. I got some fake n1's and they sounds nice.

i would think that most likely they are not going to work. but freeing up your exhaust is worth the extra work. start searching on how to run your ports off the air pump, its very easy and all you need is an rpm switch and like 2 ft of vac line.

the rb presilencer/dp has a hookup for the 5th and 6th ports if im not mistaken. You should be ok.

yes there is a hookup but there is going to be much less pressure in the exhaust, probly not enough to fully open the ports unless you have recently taken them out and clean/lubed them. it is very easy to see if they are working after you get the exhaust put on.

rx7.com sells a bonez main cat bypass pipe with a hookup for 5/6th port
they claim it works because of the exhaust pulses
maybe it is the same for the RB version?

you dont even need a rpm switch to run off the airp[ump.

i have a RB header, straight pipe, and corksport single exit catback... all i did was attached a tube, from the airpump hose, and ran it through a two way aquarium valve, and then to the actuators...

works fine, and if it opens too early, open up the un used valve on the 2 way valve to bleed some pressure off...
easy.

basicaly it is like this,

run tube from airpump hose to inlet of 2 way valve. (from aquarium store)
run tube from one of the two outlets to the actuator.
use the unused opening to bleed excess pressure if you need to..

feel free to pm me for pics or details.

actually ive heard of people just running the 5/6 ports to the acv, i think it reroutes all the air to the hose that runs down by the washer fluid at like 3800 rpm.

wow, thanks for the tips
i'm somewhat worried, but i'm going to be doing all of this work at my school during class time, with my profs around and all that, and they're very knowledgeable...despite the fact they tell me to go play with my wankel somewhere else

thanks for the tips and advice everyone, i'll keep you posted and be PMing if necessary
