New exhaust

I was looking at aftermarket exhausts today would it be benefical to get a whole new system or just hollow out my existing cat and bolt on 2 normal , lets say magnaflow exhausts?

if i were to get a whole new system could someone point me in the right direction of what brand to buy

What kind of car do you have? NA? Turbo? I'm more a fan of a whole system, but it comes down to preference.

RX7.com has a great cat back for you, not to mention race pipes and high flow cats. Quality stuff.

i have an 88 GXL too.

my exhaust is a full RacingBeat setup (just not the headers) and i think it sounds perfect. It has a hint of the original sound, but its way more agressive (and it shoots fire )

Economical system which offers good performance and a low, baritone sounding exhaust note. Our best selling system. Installed in cars producing up to 400WHP.

RP 50mm Cat-back - 86-91

Would this be good for my stock GXL? or could i just make my own , get a high flow cat and 2 magnaflow bottle exhausts?

SDJ header (from banzairacing)
2.5" borla xr-1 presilencer to whatever catback you like or just custom single or double sided w/ either magnaflow or borla mufflers

either that or full RB system, header > presilencer > catback or the new true dual system

I'd go the custom route myself. maybe add in a dynomax bullet presilencer into the catback if you run single sided exhaust and then some big borla or magnaflow muffler at the end

NODE...

Are you using a borla xr-1 muffler as a presilencer?? How do you like it??
Does it decrease that loud raspy sound from running headers and a free flow cat??

I'm thinking about running a 3" XR-1 after the cat on my single 3" cat back exhaust with magnaflow muffler. Its just too loud right now (headers and free flow cat) and I need something to quiet this bad boy down.
Was also looking at RB's 3" ID universal stainless steel muffler...

what you think?

Borla Stainless Catback

racing beat header

borla XR-1 in place of the cat or a high flo cat.

i can vouch for the borlas, other than that i just know people love them

I just ran upon an unknown (possibly shop created) full manifold back exhaust for my 90 GTU. It's 3" straight to the Y'pipe with hi-flow mufflers. It was on an s4 vert. I just so happen to work at ISC Racing, so I got it for free. Before I offer my advice, how does everyone feel about the Apex'i N1 Dual exhaust? Good, bad, decent? That was what I was going to buy for myself, but I think I found the best deal for my money. Who can argue with free? And it's about 30 pounds lighter than my stock exhaust with gutted cats.
