new engine runs like old engine

I put a 60,000 mile used motor in my rex, the stamp on the engine says it was rebuilt in 04 of 96.The car it was in had 117,000 miles.
I have the paper work for the rebuild. My problem and question is the new engine idles like the old engine CLUMPY!! I have replaced all vac lines, gaskets, injectors, fuel filter,FPR,fuel pump,plugs,wires,alt,bat,o2,transistor for BAC in ECU...the list goes on....The tps is set to 1.00 volt with a digital mm.ISC jumpered timing as close as possible with a lumpy idle.I can't get the idle to sit still? Also the engine has a hard time starting when hot,It DOSE NOT flood when hot! It acts like it's not getting any fuel or not enough pressure. My theory is the fuel tank check valve...just a theroy don't flame me...I have tested the water temp sensor in the thermostat housing it was within specs.I still need to know how to test and replace the temp sensor in the AFM. How much intake air slips by the actuator rods for the 5th and 6th ports? how do I test the EGR valve? Also is the oil filler neck suppost to have a air tight seal to the engine? my filler tube comes out if I pull on it.

The FSM has a procedure for checking the AFM. You need a digital multimeter and it will show you what the resistance should be across the different pins. You need a vacuum gun (with gauge) to apply vacuum to the EGR valve and see if it opens and holds a vacuum( if I remember correctly).

well for the idle i would say just check to tps and make sure that is working properly. i would say also to replace the fuel pump and see if that might help.

i think that this might be your problem

yeh, if you reused that old cracked-rubber EGR valve, that might be it... you can check the AFM temp sensor from the plug- it's in chapter 4 of the FSM

Have you tried getting the fuel injectors cleaned and balanced?

made a world of difference for me, even brought back alot of lost power

I have all new injectors....Also I used a vaccume pump with gauge on the EGR IT DID NOT hold a vaccume. Now the other problem...HOT STARTING....Like I said before if you let the car warm up to operating temp, then shut it off and let it sit for 10-30min then crank it over the engine will start for two to three seconds, during this time if you feather the gas the engine acts like it's not getting gas or burning up what is left in the lines,THE ENGINE IS NOT FLOODING....after 45 min depending on the outside temp the engine will start right up no problem?
