I was in charge of the OEM harness and interface program at DEI, and recently sent a 88 S4 Turbo, 86-87 non turbo and 88 convertible harness to a couple of companies to see if they could duplicate them, and for me to sell new versions of them and make a small profit they would cost around $850.

That is with all new connectors and teflon covered wires.

And that was with the #1 aftermarket harness manufacture in the USA, a min order of 10 of each harness or the #1 manufacture of aftermarket electronics in Asia.

So building one yourself would probably cost at least 3/4 of that just in parts unless you wanted to use old connectors

Which is a bad idea on many of them. I've had several connectors crumble in my hands when removing them.
