New delema... which car to put the engine in.
Well I just picked up a Turbo II yesterday, was going to use it as a parts car, the pics led me to believe it was pretty ragged out. Well when I got it, it only had 69k and the inside was in mint condition. The outside has no dents, dings, or scraches, just some faded paint. The car used to be red and not it is black, but the engine bay was not painted.... so that looks like hell in there. Now I got a deliema... should I swap parts into my GXL like originally planned or just drop the engine into the TII. The GXL is mint also (one ding)92k, interior is a little more faded than the TII but the outside has glossy paint... Ill post some pics of the two cars if someoen will host them for me. I can never seem to get pics posted on this forum...

Whichever one is lighter. Combined the bests of both cars if you don't care about that. If the engine you are speaking of is a 13BT (I would assume so if you're considering putting it into a TII) then you're going to need the TII supporting systems. Trans, drivetrain and what not because the GXL's will get destroyed pretty quickly by a turbocharged car.

Well then use the gxl and part the TII. the gxl is lighter isn't it? Use the TII wheels too, unless you have new ones. I wonder if the TII interior can be swapped into the GXL?

if the colors of the interior are the same its no problem. the TII seats are more supportive and look cooler, so if you can use the GXL and put the nice interior in from the TII, that would work good....
also, what series are both the cars? if they are different, then i would do whatever i could to keep s4 with s4 and s5 with s5.....

Well then the only deciding factor I can think of is which one is lighter? I don't know. But whichever one is, that is the one I'd go with. You would most likely have less problems with the TII

Make sure to do your research on the 20B first. It'll cost you a lot more than just the engine itself. Let alone how much gas you'll be using and the rest of the supporting costs that come with it. Sounds like if you have the money you'll be sporting a pretty badass car. But if you don't have the money you'll have an very pretty driveway/garage ornament.

A TII and GXL are both heavy.
If you want looks then go with the GXL from what you said about condition.
A reminder: Paint jopbs done right cost more than $400 and can't be done at MAACO!!!!! Right now to repaint my black GTU without a color change I'm looking at about 1k for materials and that's w/ me doing some of the prep work.
Painting the engine bay is also a bitch.
Now on the technical side.
Swapping in a TII rearend will probable be the hardest part for the conversion in a S5 since I've heard they are plug and play style electronics.
Good luck in either way you go!
