New Clutch. WOW

Just picked up my 88' vert from the dealership after having the clutch replaced. I got this car about a month ago and since then the clutch had been slipping more and more. Anyway, picked the car up this morining and it felt like a completly different car. Way more power and its just an n/a. I guess I was just learning to drive the car with pretty much a worn and sloppy clutch. Im really happy because I was rather dissapointed in the performance of the car before to say the least. Anyway, i think this will be a fun weekend.....

oh yeah, the dealership also told me that my front catalytic converter was gone, will this just be a problem for me next time I get an emission check or will it affect the car in some manner
?

It could end up being a problem for you, but when/if you do replace it, don't go with the factory cats as the dealer really bends you over for those, and there are much better aftermarket products available that could give you even better performance.

You can pass emissions just fine with just 1 main highflow cat. Try www.rx7.com and look at the Bonez Superflow system. It is really reasonably priced and replaces both pre-cats with a resonator and then just the 1 High-flow cat in replacement of the main cat.

I would recommend the Racing Beat streetable header and a high flow cat from mazdatrix. I installed this combination on my 90 vert a week ago and I am very happy with it. I also have to pass yearly SMOG checks here in Las Vegas. My clutch is next on my list of things to replace. Did you go with a stock clutch?

Well, The header might get you failed at visual inspection.

The tech's don't know that our cars have 3 cats.
2 precats and 1 main cat.

From what I heard the precats are useless and used for cold emissions.(i heard it's not really testable)

Just gut the precats now or get the Bonez Superflo.
I got it 3 motnhs ago and it's great. I had a straight pipe to cat before and it made it quieter and deeper sounding.

I feel bad for you guys that still have to pass SMOG, i mean sure, lets keep the earth green and breath clean air and stuff, but geeez poor mates

secondly. STAY AWAY from the dealer. they'll bend you over no matter what part you need. When i was younger and had my first FC they quoted my a price for a rebuilt motor.. $4700 dollars. I told the guy he was nuts over the phone and no-one would pay that much.. i ended up pulling the motor myself and getting it rebuilt for ALOT less around 900$. So stay away from dealers at all cost's.

If you dont mind me asking. how much did you pay for your clutch install?
