New chassis or Haltech?

OK, I need some opinions. My 87 TII's body is pretty much a POS. I've got several hundred $$'s worth of body work, it's been smacked hard in the *** at least twice, has salvage title, not sure if frame is straight, etc. It's one saving grace is the motor. I know what's been done to it (confirmed by Rocky @ RP) & I purchased the car pretty much for the motor/mods. I'm putting on a Walbro tomorrow (hopefully), but really want to ensure this motor lasts me a few more years. Now, I can scrounge the money for the E6K & maybe some 720's. This would be enough for a fairly decent chassis, though. I would like to find a nicer TII w/ blown motor & just switch mine out, keeping my current pile as a parts car. Hell, if need be, I'd toss my current drivetrain into an NA or convertible. Much more work invovled that route, though. I'm torn between car being straight, looking good, not rattling, no holes in ***, etc VS Haltech, some fuel mods & picking my next cahssis very carefully.
Spout off, give me your opinions/experiences, or just tell me to go to hell. I need some input here. Mods to date are in sig (also have A/F meter sitting in Pop's garage waiting for my lazy *** to install).

if you can do all the work yourself..i'd say go out and buy a mechanically shitted out car w/ a good body and do the swap. if not, get the E6K and have fun tinkering w/ your engine

Yes, I can do either the E6K or the swap myself. Just pondering what to do first. I'm actually leaning toward the Haltech to ensure a long & happy life for the motor. I'd end up putting as much into a solid rebuild as I have in the car at this point, while a chassis w/ blown motor would be considerably cheaper.

More opinions, please. Somebody has to have been in a similar situation.

I'd find a N/A sunroof-less clean chassis and swapeverything , people would be amazed that you have a true Infini V from japan, paint it black

That and it'd be lighter / faster

The exact thought has crossed my mind. But the swapping of drivetrain vs engine alone would lead to more downtime & work. I'm fairly lazy. I'm thinking if I swapped an entire drivetrain, I'd go vert. Yes, it'd be heavier, but still damn cool.

Although I fully endorse swapping for a no options NA body, I vote for Haltech and dynotune first. Get it running fast and SAFE and you can always put drivetrain and ANY other mod into the clean chassis later. I'm not sure about KS, but in CA you can pick up a very straight clean dead engine NA for $500 of so if you wait and watch. So as you work on the TII you can wait for a cheap clean body!

Yeah, I tend to be of the go before show type. I may have a chassis or 2 located. Just making sure they are STRAIGHT. I found a TII with about the same miles as mine W/ blown motor & some extras (3"RB turbo back, boost controller {which I'm sure caused the loss of compression in rear rotor at 12-15 psi}, some body parts, etc for like $2k. The exhaust would be cool, but thats what my budy gave for a swell TII that runs great. It's kinda looking like I may just end up further in debt, but what can you do?
