New cd deck troubles
I have had my 87 RX-7 for two days. 40,000 kms on rebuilt motor, 5 speed, lsd. Shes in good shape. I am new to the site and my story goes like this. Me and my buddy were in my garage changing from an old crappy aftermarket deck to a new one. We forgot to disconnect the battery and we cut the wires on the back of the deck to splice into the wires on the new harness. The moment we did this, the clock on my message center went out and the interior light also turned off, as well as my climate control backlighting and the deck itself does not work. all fuses have been checked and im stumped. Any ideas on a solution would be appreciated. Thanks.

Yeah, there is a short or something. I know that when I installed my aftermarket deck, when I turned the lights on, the CD player would turn off. I have been installing audio systems and stuff in cars for years and couldn't figure out what was wrong. I took it to my boss who me the that the factory amp causes a short when used w/ an aftermarket cd player & could possibly fry it . I wasnt sure how true this was nor did I really feel like tracking the problem so I just ran all new wires to the CD player, speakers, and amps then I hooked it up to a toggle switch. it is actually easy. only took a good hour worth of time.

Former Moderator. RIP Icemark.
blown fuses in the interior fuse box. Room and tail fuses.
How did you check them??? what makes you think they are good? You know sometimes a ATC fuse can blow and you can not tell without metering it?
