That's what it's for all right. Remove it, make a blockoff plate. System never worked...

My oringinal UIM had the casting for it. When I bought my replacement UIM off ebay, there was no casting for the unit. Interesting

That's a really bad idea. There is a connector on the back of the lower intake for the brake booster. The cold start connector has a check valve, which can interfere with your brakes.

It helps magnify pedal pressure so you can stop the car without standing on the brake pedal.

^thx, im gonna check the haynes and see where the hell mine is and make sure that its connected properly.

I don't understand why all you guys say to remove the cold start, I think its a good idea. It helps with compression on the really cold days by injecting antifreeze into the LIM from the UIM and into the combustion chamber.

TSB is good enough for me.

Plus how many of them are working? And how many of us drive below 0 F? Most of the time there is ice/snow out and we don't go out in a sports car with that **** out there.

Its funny. I mean I see so many people telling everyone on here to remove the cold start assist, and at the same time I see like posts throughout the winter
"my car won't start!"

lol.
Well if mazda said to junk it, then I guess it really didn't work. Personally though, it makes sense to me to keep it.

Not cold start. SUB-ZERO. It operated at a minus three degrees F. It did not operate above 4 degrees F.

The sub zero assist system never worked very well. It has no effect on cold weather starting.

Removing the "cold start" is different, and quite pointless in my opinion.
