New 88 turbo rx7 and problems getting home.

Hey guys Ive just got my first running rx7 and it just so happens to be a turbo. Well the cars in okay shape the engine run fine and a average compression. The cars key ignition is shot to hell in 3 different parts. The guys who owned the car can start it but you have to hold the ignition in the right place or the car dies not very good when driving 30 miles. My 87 n/a rx7 at home has a working ignition so i plan to swap it when i get home, but is there a way to cut the wires from the ignition and 'hot wire' it? Also the guy removed all the emission hardware. How hard is it to replace and generally how much does that cost and what im I looking for?? Pictures to come when I get it home.

Thank you

Page 15-9 of the FSM shows which wires to connect for START and ON.

As an anti-theft feature, the ignition switch is held in place by bolts which have a blank head. Chapter 10 of the FSM specifies a hammer and chisel to make a slot for a standard screwdriver, but banging on the steering column bothers me so I have always used a Dremel tool and thin cutting wheel to make the slot. I haven't done this in many years, but I think you will need to remove the steering wheel to accomplish this. You can get a steering wheel puller from your local auto parts store. See this thread for more info on the ignition lock:
