New To 2nd Gen...

hey, i have two 1st gens and im looking into buying my first 2nd gen and i was just looking at a 2nd gen that some guy near me has thats an 88 GXL...he doesnt say if it has turbo or not and i dont know if thats something that was stock for this model or not, cause if not i dont want it hes only asking $500 because it has a "bad motor"? and in my experiance this is because the owner doesnt know squat about rotary engines and its probably just flooded (does this even happen on the 2nd gens?) or something like that, im gonna call him and find out. oh well for $500 i could get it running again for a few more bucks...right? any opinions are welcome...thanks

You really need to do a compression check on it. If it really is a bad motor, I don't know if I'd pay $500 for it. It'd have to be in really decent shape other than the engine.

Yes 2nd gens have flooding issues, esp. the 86-88s. If I recall, someone got a 2nd gen for 245 dollars, it was just flooded.

I paid $150 for mine. The previous owner had no idea what the car was worth. All he saw was a car with 158K miles and he needed money really bad.

150, that's a new low I think for a running RX-7...I would pick a few up for that price if they were all running

It's an '86 with some body damage and a leaky exhaust. All it needed was a new battery to get it running, but now I have to make it pass emissions. It's soaking in ATF right now.

DAMN....somebody beat me.

Mine runs, very light dent in the hood from a trailer hitch, and a broken drivers seat from the fat-*** previous owner. Oh well I guess I'll have to replace it with a Recaro or a Spearco.. Brand new tires and OEM cat-back, both were done a week b4 he took it off the road.
