New 10th anni. needs some help

Hello All.

I just purchased an 10th anni and have a few questions for you Turbo II guys. I have owned 4 2nd gens before (convertible, and 3 N/A) and I currently have a 94 white touring. I have always loved the 10th and finally found one in pretty good shape.

My questions are these:

1.How acurate is the stock boost gauge?
2.What is the gauge supposed to read at idle?
3.What is the mac psi of the turbo supposed to be and at what RMP should it be maxed out.
4.Does anyone know where I can buy the 10th anni. floor mats?

Thanks in advance for any help

Congrats on the new purchase.

Everyone will tell you the stock boost gauge is good for nothing, pick up an aftermarket gauge as your first purchase. The boost you will run stock will vary a bit depending on a number of factors. I only saw 5psi stock. You might see slightly more than that. No idea where you can find the floormats but someone will know.

Cheers

Rx7pimpin,

Hey you might make Tim Benton jeleous

1) How acurate is the stock boost gauge?
I think it maxes at 1 bar, but I prefer a PSI gague.

2).What is the gauge supposed to read at idle?
0
3.What is the max psi of the turbo supposed to be and at what RMP should it be maxed out.
For the 86-88 TIIs, 5.5PSI. Boost comes on at ~2000rpms and maxes after a 2 seconds I think (ie not rpm dependent once above 2500rpms).

4.Does anyone know where I can buy the 10th anni. floor mats?
The 10th AEs had several items with the 10th AE badging including the floor mats, corner panels, steering wheel, and front nose bra. I'd have some made & embroidered as Mazda (or any automaker) do not carry floormats. There's several sites on the web that can do this is you give them a picture.

Just like any turbo II, the car is seriously detuned OEM. Drivetrain handles almost 350% more torque & HP than OEM. Make her a torque monster with a few upgrades

Not very. Besides, the graduations make it impossible to tell what it’s reading even if it was. Get an aftermarket one.
2. What is the gauge supposed to read at idle?
Your engine idles at ~15inHg of vacuum, which is ~380mmHg, way below the bottom of the scale which only goes down to -200mmHg! So at idle it should be pegged at the bottom. It should only read zero (astompheric) with the ignition on and the engine off.
3. What is the mac psi of the turbo supposed to be and at what RMP should it be maxed out.
Stock boost is 6.56psi or 340mmHg, nearly to the top of the stock gauge. (Vaughan, read the FSM!) It should reach that by about 3-4000rpm depending on what gear you’re in. Peak power is at 6500rpm.

Thanks guys for all your help it sounds like the car is running as it should. I am used to my 3rd gen with about 390rwhp, but I have always loved the 2nd gen and now I have 2 beautiful white/black leather sitting in my garage. The car seems to be all original and has all the 10th parts except the floor mats so I will try to find some original ones ( I know it will almost be imposible) but worth a shot. If anyone out there has a set of rims or a drivers seat ( I know a long shot) in perfect shape let me know I have a few scratches on mine and don't want to paint them if I can find some in good shape.

Thanks for all you guys help

Uh, no - do the straight conversion - it comes out to about 8psi for 40mmHg.

You're talking about the engine running at idle, right?&nbsp Technically, it's sitting at the bottom at "-20".

Yes I have the Key. So you guys are saying at full boost it should read at the 40. Mine seems to be only boosting to 3/4 of the way. I will check the vac lines first

thanks

No, I said nearly to the top, 340mmHg. A 14yo engine is probably not making that anyway, so 3/4 of the way up the gauge (300mmHg or 5.8psi) would be about right. But like i said, the stock gauge isn't that accurate. Get a decent aftermarket one before you start troubleshooting.
