Wink Neglected Series 5

Hello

I have just recently bought a cheap Series 5, looking at these cars and geting similar price's for a while now i saw an ad for $7700 AUD, sounds good must have heaps of problems with it, had a look and it was so neglected it wasn't funny, i acually felt really sorry for it, even though i was looking at other Series 5's and some Series 4's, i choose not to buy the other car's that were going for $20,000 AUD i bought this Neglected RX7, first thing i did when i handed over the cheque. I took it straight to the Garage, www.cityperformancecentre.com so far they have done an outstanding job, and very professional i've always taken my car's there and always will.

So far the problems are :

Lower Control Arms are cracked
Engine mounts are worn
Transmission mount oil soaked
many Engine leaks
front wheel beerings are loose
Gearbox is no good, has leaks and bad shifting
Requires front/rear brake pads and rotors (10% undersized)
Exhaust Y Pipe leaks
Drive belts are worn
Radiator needs repair
Right hand outside door handle inoperative
Engine badly blowing smoke when cold
New Wiring harness and connectors
Idle motor inoperative
Engine Re-build
Turbo Re-build
ECU needs to be tested
Gearbox to be sent away to be checked
All new vaccum hoses
all new belts
turbo intake pipe
all rubber pipes
cat converter to be inspected
many dents in body
sunroof has rust
new waterpump
new starter motor

So far we have, at the start that the alternator pully was welded to the bolt, and the Alternator BELT was crack and twisted, we put a new alternator on the car, a new alternator belt and also a new battery and battery harness then we did a Servicing and found that the car had no oil in oil pan, we changed the oil and filter, removed engine spark plugs and inspected, fitted new spark plugs, we then carried out cooling system pressure test & found that water was seeping from radiator hoses. cleaned and re-fitted the filter, checked and upped all the fluid levels, we found that engine was not evident of damage but just worn (good news!), we then found that the wiring harness and connectors were cooked, they weren't connected to the temp sensor or oil sensor!! injectors were down on flow

talked to Alessio today, they have now taken the engine out and are taking it apart, when taking the engine out they found that the car has been painted, Pink, Yellow, Red, blue and Green (Current colour)

so far the estimate price on repairs are $7000 AUD

my conclusion to this is that the owner that i bought it off, it was a girl and i'm not being sexiest BUT she has previously owned alot of Rotarys (she is a rotary head) but she kept saying it's in excellent condition even though i knew what condition it was in!, says it runs fine and never overheats (wounder why she never knew :P)

I just can't understand why people neglect such a beautiful car!, it is sad seeing a car the way it is, and i plan to give it lots of TLC and hopefully once everything is perfect or near perfect :P she'll be a great car!

i'll keep you posted with updates

i hear ya on that .. although i bought a car from some dudes backyard and put about 1000.00 us into it and she runs like a champ. i love it .. but i hear ya about neglecting . i know of another s4 that is sitting in the middle of the woods. it runs , but rusted up badly and looking to be taken out of there .. only if i had a trailer and truck to tow it ,, i would part it out and save other peoples cars.
