needle thing in TID (88 turbo)

needle thing in TID (88 turbo)

right below where the stock bov goes... can someone tell me if i need this? can i just cap it off? the car appears to run fine without it.. also.. is it for emissions, maybe what the heck is it would help!

Its a check valve..... My friend just capped it off, I left it on since I re ran the lines when I pulled my emissions, so w/e.

The line is part of the crankcase breather and evaporative emissions systems, and the silcer thing on the end is a check valve. It will still work fine disconnected, you just might get a bit of oily air out of it. Leave the check valve attached or you'll have a vac leak under some conditions.

thanks guys... so if i cap it its ok? or should i leave it open to atmosphere.. here some pics of what i did today.. took the stock box out and made a cone filter pipe

Just FYI.....under hood temperatures reach up into the 150 plus range in the summer on a turbo. Just in case you didn't know.

Yes.

I'm doing my new TID at the moment, so I have worked out what I want to do with that line. I'm going to trace it right back to the tee in the vac rack it comes from, and run a new hose from there to the underside of the car on the left side of the engine bay, with the check valve on the end. Eventually I'll pull all this stuff out, but in the mean time this will look neater and avoid any mess.
