Needing an Alternator for 87 T2

Alright, here's the deal, I'm needing an new alternator and battery, some how for some reason, the alternator has something wrong with the regulating the power, so I need a new alternator, and since that is a problem I guess I need a new battery also. I just need to know what type of alternator would I need to get this running right. It has been through 3 alternators, my brother had told me, now all I need to know is, if the battery was put to all the alternators. I'm not totally sure what size of alternator is it in now, so suggestions and tips and facts would be helpful....

Get a stock replacement from auto zone or advance auto parts or murrays or wherever but get a good one with lifetime warranty.

If the problem is the alternator then getting a battery and alternator will fix it. If there is some type of drain on the system that drains the power so the car wont start if left for a few days then you should track down that problem as well.
