need verifacation on wiring
Ok so I started my Haltech ps1k install yesturday and then decided ahh why not do it right and do a wire tuck and eliminate parts of the harness that I no longer need. So I pulled the motor and started with removing the leading coil wires. when I unplugged the end near the firewall under the trailing coil and took it to my workbench to separate the harness i noticed that there is a grounding strap in the loom and another plug was attached to it. when looking a the FSM it shows that the coil was using it as a ground and not another part using the coil as a ground. if that is the case i can cut it and get rid of it. if not then i need to figure another way to get rid of that harness. Can anyone confirm this. here is a PIC:

Those don't look like wire having anything to do with ignition at least to me.
How many wires in the white plug that has the yellow/red wire in it??????? so we can tell just what plug you have in your hand. Seems the yellow/red would be tied to the oil pressure sensor. If that plug has six wires in it then it's FE-02 plug. Need more information.
See the wiring manual free and online on this forum. Page 50-41.

The only ground the coils assys use .........is non existant. The coil assys get their ground from the chassis of the coil assy making contact with the body of the car.
The black/yellow wire (power wire) for each coil assy gets spliced to a wire that goes to a condenser which in turn does get put to ground but this has zip to do with the coil gnd......which is thru the base of the coil assy making contact with the chassis of the car.
The other wires in the coil plugs go to the ECU. With the exception of the two bullet connectors that are for diagnostic purposes and the one wire that is spliced off to the tach.
What year car? Series.

If you look at the plug for a CAS on any RX you will see a shield in the wiring. That shield gets a ground but not at that end of the plug. I suspect you found the ground for the CAS wiring in your pictures. Always wondered just where that CAS shield was grounded and now I know.
