Need under hood switched power location

Does anyone know of a place under the hood where I can find ignition switched power to run a relay for my daytime running lights that I have added behind the "flash-to-pass" lenses? I want these lights to come on automatically every time the ignition is on.

There are lots of switched ignition sources in the engine bay, but the easiest to use is on the 6-pin diagnostic plug by the leading coil. Black/white wire.

This would've been much easier than adding lights though...

Beware though. If you overload that wire (black/white) in that diognostic plug, you'll pop the fuse that feeds it, which in turn will mean the car will come to a screeching HALT!

That said, I've been known to use that wire for *stuff*.

It comes from the 30A EGI fuse in the engine bay and I have a spare in the car.

I would caution against using the DIAG plug, its not rated very high. I use the AAS suspension plug.

The diaognostic plug IS green. Same with the TPS check connector. Both fed from the 30 amp EGI COMP fuse. Blow that fuse and come to a instant stop. Are you ready for that at 3am halfway b/t Corpus Christi TX and Brownsville?

Did you guys miss the bit where he said he needed it to run a relay? I'm pretty sure it'll cope with the 50-100mA load just fine.

Nah. It was more fun ignoring the relay. So I slipped up a touch. Suckered J-RAT in though, which gives me pleasure. humor

Thanks guys - I did use the suspension connector located on the passenger side strut tower to power up a RELAY. I had previously tried to do the daytime headlight mod but could not locate the proper wire in the steering column and headlamp switch. The aftermarket lights that I used are self contained very small driving lights that I just sat in a small glob of silicone adhesive behind the flash-to-pass lenses. Everything works great!
