need suggestions for turbo swap.

im dropping an S4 turbo into my 90GXL and could use some advice on any upgrades to take care of while the thing is being birthed. so far here is the list of what is happening.

rebuild motor with ceramic interior
upgraded seals
porting of engine(this is a summer driver i want to be a strong puller - port type/suggestions?)
ceramic upper and lower intake manifolds(not to be ported yet - cost)
upgraded clutch(already have the tranny back from a previous upgrade)
FMIC(stock for now) with stock turbo(likely to be relocated)
slightly upgraded secondary injectors
downpipe w/3" exhaust

i dont think i have left anything out here from what my plans are. plates are already in the process of being coated and parts are already on the way from ebay purchases.

any suggestions/insights/advice would be very helpful and appreciated if you feel like offering it.

Whats with all the cermanic ****? Its not needed, so far Mazda oem 2mm seals have proven good enough. Its just wasted costs, the engine will still blow eventually (given 5k miles or 140k miles ) . For a port are you doing it yourself? If you do, I suggest Judge ITO's agressive streetport template. Again no need for cermanic manifolds, have them extrude honed if anything. Upgrading the clutch is good.

Why are you relocating your turbo? Bigger injectors and something to tune them with (Megasquirt!) are a good thing, the rest of the list is fine. But explain to me why you want the other ****?

engine wear is greatly reduced(for the plates) as the coating is alot harder than the stock substance. and if a seal should blow or some such thing it wont gouge a chunk out of my engine forcing me to resurface it. also its a good insulator(eg. keeping a hot engine from heating up the air intake before it gets where its going or keeping the heat in and making sure it gets pushed out the exhaust.

iv seen a blown engine with this surfacing and while it required a rebuild, the interior was absolutely spotless. no dings, scratches, imperfections at all.

as for the seals, they will cost me the same as mazda oem ones so i figure why not.

the extrude honing is what i was thinking as well, although im not prepared for the cost yet to send them away yet, and i do want my car on the street ASAP. it will be done eventually though.

i will definately look into this ITO street port too, thanks.

i am relocating the turbo to get it away from the furnace that will be my engine. i plan to isolate it as effectively as possible, maybe a heat shield of some sort just to lower the temp a bit around it. not a game breaking thing to do but if its out then why not. i also dont have a turbo hood hence the relocated IC ect..

what is megasquirt iv not heard of this?

Because I suck

Check eBay for Megasquirt, $200 standalone, its l337.

Good luck on your project, someone more knowledgable will take over. Good job finding good cereamic seals pricing .

will do on checking out megasquirt. not doing the seals though, just the plates. one side of the equation has to have a little give to it otherwise you wont get a good seal during break in

Just a note, don't go to ebay for your megasquirt, unless you don't want to build it yourself. Start at http://megasquirt.info, and go on from there. Its easy to build, though. Their forums are at www.msefi.com , good group of people.
