Smile Need some info..Rookie Rotory enthusiast

Hello guys..Look I have an 86 N/A rx7..I was wanting to shave some weight off of my engine..I would like to remove the Air Conditioning the Power steering..My question is about that air pump...What is that thing used for..??Does it have to stay on there...I am running no thermostat, I have bypassed the heater core...Just have a free flowing cooling system...I have a Bomex Intake and a Apexi Dunk exhaust...I need some tips on how to make power...I want to have as fast a car as I can with this engine...Also tell me where I can get the best deal on Turbo Rotary engines...I would love to have the 20b, but the price is too high...Give me some suggestions...Thanks

Ok, the air pump opens the 5th and 6th port actuators, as well as keeps your cat from frying. Wire open the ports, and gut/remove the cat, and away she goes! I am still too lazy to remove mine...

Actually on the 86, backpressure opens the 6-port actuators....

Oops, I am so used to workin on a 91, I forgot to read the year! Yeah, then all the airpump does is keep your main cat from baking.

yea, on the earlier's, 86-88 exhaust backpressure opens the 6 ports... Why would you wire open the ports? don't understand it.. Why not Take out the sleeves if you want it open fulltime...

Just remove yer cat, or gut it and get rid of the airpump if ya want..

Remember, also the airpump holds another BELT that goes on yer water pump as well, you may want to purcahse a double pulley for your alternator (~40$) or you will have slippage when you floor it sometimes... I don't have a double pulley or Airpump atm, and it seems ok.. but I plan on fixing that hehe

I am too damn lazy to pull the intake manifold in order to remove the sleeves. Just wire em open, and be done w/ it. Too many vacuum hoes to get mixed up!!
