Question Need some help with fuel injectors.

Ok, so I was having problems with my fuel injectors so we took them out and I was going to send them off to be cleaned. Well I got curious and started doing a little research and I found that my injectors are supposed to be purple topped but instead they are orange topped. Now, my car is an 88 but I dont know exactly what month it was made in to determine if I have the wrong injectors or my car was just before the transition into the newer models. Can anyone give me any advice on how to figure out what month it was made in?

Edit: They are either orange or a faded red. I can't really tell.

the injectors are often not the color they are described to be, remember they have been in oil/fuel/coolant soaked an oven for 20 years.. read the numbers on the side and compare:

84-85 13B NonTurbo low square center 680cc orange 195500-0900
86-87 13B NonTurbo low square center 460cc red 195500-1350
86-87 13B Turbo low square center 550cc tan 195500-1370
88 13B NonTurbo high square offset 460cc purple 195500-1350
88 13B Turbo high square offset 550cc purple 195500-1370
89-91 13B NonTurbo high oval center 460cc red 195500-2010
89-91 13B Turbo high oval center 550cc purple 195500-2020

This is true, which is why I am thinking they are red. The part number is 195500-1350 Red which I looked up and shows that came in 86-87s, which what leads me to believe my car may have been in a transition period.

then the only question is is the lug in the center of the injector outside of the connector or is it offset slightly to the side? you can also measure the resistance between the 2 pins, the purples will have ~12-13 ohms of resistance where the red/orange/tan square plug injectors will have 2-3 ohms.

if those are the ones with the part numbers provided then these are what you have:

88 13B NonTurbo high square offset 460cc purple 195500-1350

they should read 12-13ohms as they are high impedence indicated by the offset lug, which were used in post '87.5 cars. the 1350 part number also indicates that they are non turbo 460cc's, so they are fine, assuming the motor wasn't swapped with a different series.

I'm pretty sure it's the original motor but not 100% positive. Still strange that the colors would change from purple to that, assuming they were ever purple in the first place. Thanks a lot for your help man.

Ive never seen purple injectors turn into that.. they should be much darker, heat wont cause this much discolouration

My old purple ones were still purple
