Need some help, buying an FC
So I dont know anything about rotarys but the basics, coming from mr2's and dsms.
Anyways I went to go look at a 88 t2 yesterday with a friend that is very into rx7s and has 3 fc's.
The guy doesnt know much about cars so he couldnt give me as much info as I would like, but im suppost to be going over to his place tom and compresson test the engine. It has a T04 "fast tracks", which is all the guy could tell me, and was told this by the previous owner. It has a street ported engine, all the work done at Rotary Power...Other things I can think of, has a garett fmic kit, which i didnt think they made these? Maybe a greddy one and he doesnt know, or custom? HKS bov, ACT clutch, Racing beat catback and wires, AFPR, FCD. I think thats about it. Im not sure if the turbo setup had a external gate, which im assuming it did, and it had a custom downpipe that pretty much looked like ***. He told me in 3rd gear it creeps past 9psi, so im assuming its a wastegate problem or something with the exhaust. If I buy it I will prolly put a stock manifold and turbo back on it since its running stock ecu and I dont want to take my chances. Also has as FD fuel pump. think thats it
There is a leak in one of the fuel lines, and once he starts it you can see right were the fuel is spraying out of the SS line, so I couldnt actually drive the car. So ill have to have the car towed back to my place and replace the line.
The car had been repainted by the previous owner, looks really damn good and the interior is awesome.
Any advice when I go compression test it tom? Or any other things I can look for while im there to make sure I dont get ripped and this engine is screwed? Is there a way to identify the T04 turbo to which type it is? What compression results should I be looking for?
thanks
