Hello all.

I just started driving my friend's GTU that has been sitting around for about 6 months. In that time, it just did nothing but sit there. Now that I go to start it up and drive it, it sometimes refuses to shift properly, sometimes starting off in second or maybe even third. Once the transmission gets hot, the problem seems to go away, and on the highway, although it picks the right gears, damn does it get hot. Hot enough to make my feet very uncomfortable.

This car had no transmission issues at all when he parked it 6 months ago, but I did notice that the fluid is rather brown. Anybody have any ideas what is going on, or know of any known issues like this?

 

At the very least I'd say try changing the tranny fluid or at least make sure it's topped off. Other than that, no ideas, sorry.
