Need small battery < $75

Alright guys...I've got a braille racing batter right now...and it died (only like 6 months old)...and of course nobody responds to email attempts to try and get a reply for warranty coverage. Anyway, this batteries are ridiculously expensive and apparently suck....so..yea. Anyway, I like the battery becasue it's small and keeps me from having to relocate the battery...I have an FMIC, still have P/S and A/C...so there is not much room for a huge battery. So, you guys tell me a good battery for under $75 shipped if possible that is smallish...doesn't have to be as small as the braile, but can't be a huge battery. It doesn't get really really cold here (it "might" dip below 20 2 or 3 times in the winter), so that isn't a big issue. I just need something that will hold up. I have an FD alt as well, so my charging system is working well....Oh, another thing..if I can get this in an Autozone or advance auto parts that'd be great as well, so if it craps out, I can carry it in and get it replaced without having to deal with the retarded hassles of trying to get warranty service online. This last part isn't a requirement, but if possible would be nice.

nope, not mine...I have a red TII...but I am about 45 mins from g-vegas (as the locals call it)...That's usually where I go if I need anything that walmart doesnt' carry..lol (washington has no where to buy anything) So yea, might see you around.

As far as battery size..it's really the battery height....I still have the stock battery tray in the car, but one of the IC pipes run over the battery, so it can't be a really tall battery.

ok...i just pulled that stupid braille battery...it's dimensions are:

Length: 5.8"
Height: 5.8"
width: 3.2"

So...max dimensions for what I can probably fit:

Height 6"
Length: not really an issue...so whatever the stock tray is.
width: 4-5" (if I can keep this down, then the heght isn't that big of a deal.

My IC runs pretty much parallel with the side of the battery...and goes over the side of the tray closest to the headlight.

So, if any of this makes sense...give me ideas

Go to Autozone, and look through the batterys. The PO that sold me my car tried to rip me off and put a marine battery in the car, and kept the new battery. Well luckly i had alot of friends at autozone and they swapped it out for me using his phone number.

Well I have a pretty small battery, that fits in about half of the battery tray.

Spend a little more money and you can get what I just got. Odyssey PC680 It cost me $95.00 and 10.00 for the SAE screw in terminal. I got mine locally but here is the site I bought my terminals from. They also have a $15.00 rebate so it is about 104.00. I love it and I am adding a MechMan 150 amp alt with a HKS twin power very soon.

From reading around the forums I've decided that Braille batteries are made by Deka. You can get Deka batteries for under $50.

I've run both the PC680 and the Deka ETX14 and I think the Deka has more cold cranking amps. Well just from how the car turns over in cold weather.

I read something negative somewhere about the Braille battery on some forum.....I know that is not very informative but anyway I have only started my car about four times with this battery and it seems to work really well....but I definitely like your Braille price better.

I have nothing against the Hawker. The PC680 should be easier to get and it should last a good amount of time. Just throwing some options up.

Yea, either way is good. I just really like these mini batteries. Easy way to lose 20 or more lbs.

hmm...the deka etx14 seems to have just as good specifications as the odyssey...but a good deal cheaper.

Has anybody tried the WestCo Miata battery? It's a little more expensive ... but also has more juice.

Does anybody have a link to battery specs for deka batteries? Their home page is useless for locating a battery by size/power.Really can't they list their specs like odyssey does and every other battery manufacturer.

Looking for a battery comparable to the odyssey PC925 in CCA/size, those PC680 sized batteries are too small if you live anywhere cold and/or have power sucking accessories at idle.Anybody know of a comparable Deka size in the sealed AGM/gel models?

yea...i had the same gripe...deka's website blows...I don't understand why companies pay for webspace to showoff their product...and then have NOTHING useful about their products on the page...worthless!

Thanks, that's a very good link, only thing it doesn't mention is the terminal arrangement and type deka uses.Looks like the Deka "ETX30L" is the odyssey PC-925 counterpart if anybody else was wondering. If the terminal setup is the same as the odyssey looks to be worth a try at less then 2/3's the price of the odyssey.

I had to buy some terminals for my ETX14. I got mine from http://www.batteryprice.com/index.as...ROD&ProdID=850
I think most of them should take the same terminals.

I would definetly shop around for the batteries because you can get them cheaper or you might be able to get them localy.

Well, this is the one I'm looking at going with. It's a Deka ETX30L...It's a little bigger than the ETX 14, but should just fit in place perfectly. It's an AGM style battery and everything I read about DEKA is good, so that's what I'm gonna try. It's a little over $75 ($87 + free shipping), but still beats the heck out of a comparable odyssey.
