Need rebuild kit for my engine

Are there any other places other then Mazda or Atkins to buy a rebuild kit for my car? Also, how do you tell if your rotor housings are bad?

If you get the Bruce Turrentine tape it shows you how to measure your housing to make sure they are in spec.

I'm assuming you have to take the engine apart and remove the housing before you can measure it, correct?

Yes you would have to tear down your engine. The measurements are taken from inside the housings.

Assuming I've got all the facts strait that gets me a little heated. I'm buying an '88 rx7 from a co-worker for pretty cheap. Her engine blew one morning so she had it towed to a local rotary specialist. They wanted $3000 dollars to rebuild the engine cause he said the rotor housings were bad. That was too much money for her which is why she is selling it to me. Aside from a visual inspection of the car the mechanic hadn't done anything to come up with that conclusion. The girl I'm buying it from knows nothing about cars so it kinda sounds like he was taking advantage of her.

Start with the simple stuff - put oil in the engine, change the plugs, try and get it going. Make SURE the engine is blown before tearing into it. If you've never done a rebuild, it might be worth buying a pre-made engine and swapping it in - that's a heckuva lot easier.

Dale is right. But if you do need to rebuild your motor I have use the Racing beat kit a couple of times and it is a complete kit. Some people say you can re-use parts, like the corner seal springs, side seal springs, Apex seal springs, ect. I like all new everything. Have fun and take you time, lots of R&D

The car I'm buying has 200,000 miles on it. The girl started it one morning and the engine just lost all power. The car will start but won't move due to lack of power. I've done a couple engine swaps before, which includes stuffing a 13B into a first gen. I'm buying both video's from Atkins rotary along with the full rebuild kit so I should be able to complete this project.
