need real serious help. runin out of hope

I was going to go for a jspec TII swap but I am just tired of messing around with my car. Hell I haven't even goten to drive the damn thing yet. I didn't have my license when I bought it and my dad still doesn't think I can drive the ******* car anyways. Guys...I'm getting realy discouraged with my '7. Every time I even get close to getting my new water pump housing some other F@#%&*$ part breaks! Today it was an oil line to the metering oil pump. I just don't know what to do anymore. It doesn't seem worth it to try and fix it anymore. I have used all the money I had plus borrowed $200-300 USD from my best friend and the damn car has been sitting in my driveway since August '01. If there is anyway to get the car down into the low to mid 14's without TII swap or NOS I would like to know please. I want the car as fast as I can posibly get it. I have a friend who has a TII '87 and I have to beat him, just have to. alls he has is the racing beat exaust for it. I need some real serrious help here guys. This is the only car I have and the only one I will have for a very long time and I'm running out of hope to even get to drive the darn thing. PLEASE HELP.?.
peace out,
peacekeeper

You can get "close" to a TII (meaning how "close" the TII owner will let you get before he hits the REST of the throttle. )

Your two options are 1) Supercharger or 2) 20B swap, whose cost is exponentially more than just straight buying a TII or (and I'm gonna get shot for this) 3) V-8 conversion.

That's it. I have never heard of an n/a beating a TII stock-for-stock. At least not on this board.

Sounds like you just need to shotgun your car and get it over with. What I mean by that is to replace every single part (with the exception of the engine internals) with new. Vac lines, brake lines, tranny rebuild, clutch and flywheel upgrade/replacement, fluid lines, injectors, intake, suspension.. the whole 9 yards. Eventually the nickle-and-dime stuff will stop...... for awhile.

Welcome to the world of the Rx-7.

14's on an NA means removing unwanted weight, full exhaust, and no emissions.

What's the big deal with trying to beat a Turbo II?&nbsp All the guy has to do is go full exhaust, and you can't touch him without hideously amount of mods or money.

SPEED COSTS MONEY.
PERFORMANCE COSTS MONEY.

SPEED and PERFORMANCE = more things that will break. If youre complaining about the car the way it is now, imagine if you put a turbo engine in there. You will prob push the car off a cliff.

Sounds like you need to spend some time at a job to earn some money. Your Dad's probably right. You expect to buy a 15 year old car and then not have to do anything to it except "go fast". Performance is expensive in many ways. You sound like a whiny kid. Either get a job and put together a plan to build the car you want or get rid of it. Not everything happens instantly.

I feel your pain man. My car is a '91 TII. I have poured so much money into my damn car in the past year and have not driven her very much. I miss having a fast car. I like driving my '86 RX-7 but she burns so much oil OPEC has sent me a letter thanking me.

This stuff costs money. This stuff costs time. This stuff takes drive and determination. You need all of these to get the enjoyment out of it.

Just keep plugging away at it man. So you don't have the money to get it running right now. Big deal. Throw a sheet over it and build up funds. Work on it an hour here and there. In the end when it works you will be one proud RX-7 driver!

If you can find out if the oil metering lines out of a '91 TII will fit your jspec. I have some used ones (90000 miles) I will give you if you pay shipping.

Peacekeeper, here's my two cents.

I think your getting ahead of yourself. Don't worry about performance items at this point in time, and don't worry about beating your friend in his TII. I would just worry about getting your car up and running so that you can play in your 7.

If this is going to be your only car for a while and your frustrated with it now, I can tell you that modding it will just make you even more frustrated and will cost serious $$ and increase downtime most likely. And it does really suck if your only car doesn't run half the time.

BhamBill,
I would not of bought the car if I couldn't drive it. I learned how to drive on a standard car. Whiny kid? If you don't have something constructive to say to me don't ******* say anything at all, alright? I just need some good Ideas to get this car on the road. But thanks to everyone else. Today should be the day that I finally get the water pump housing. How much would the shipping be Wankel7? I would love to but I'm not sure how we would do it. I realy need the line though. Pay on delivery? I could do that. E-mail me at mordoris@hotmail.com

Ok, seriously, you need to get the car on the road. You're just stressing yourself out over this 14 second T2 beating stuff. Don't let that **** bother you, get the car running and enjoy it. I know if I had a 14 second car when I was 16, I'd have wrapped myself around a telephone pole.

Find yourself a good pick-n-pull in the area, I'm sure there have to be a few in the Austin area, and go scour them, 2nd gen RX-7s are fairly common in my local yards.

However, for those lines, they've very very brittle, you're better off replacing it. Www.mazdatrix.com has them, about 20 bucks each (good idea to replace them all, since you'll have to pull the upper intake off to get at the oil injectors to swap the line.

well, let me go ahead n put in my 2 cents.... i've had my FC for a little over a year now.... I've been through 2 motors, a clutch, countless set of spark plugs.. not to mention the small stuff... owning a rotary, especially turbo is not the safest bet.. realiability, gas mileage, just plain not too many places welcome rotaries in their shop.... you would have to really appreciate your car to deal with this... and i do... althoughi have a feeling i'm going to have to rebuild my slug or just replace it.... money which i dont have, n i probably wont have for a while.... for me all the headaches are worthed in the end, when cruising listening to the whistle from my engine bay n exhaust from the rear..... what i'm trying to say is, all the hassle comes with the territory of owning an RX7..
