What do you mean you have no power at 5000rpm? Did you go too big on the primaries or something?

He did a HUGE *** port, I think it is some kinda funky bridge type port, if you search for godzilla port you will find what he did.

Scott89T11 - Yeah I can get a pass...But I found a route to drive. Its all freeway. Ill drive it all day sunday...Its from sandiego to just before L.A and back...Ill start early in the morning.

Renting a dyno is a great idea although Jeff at autoteck motorsports has already given me great dealz on parts and labor, I dont want to ask for to much.

My primaries are open all the time and so is the VDI. They are ported as well...Why not ? every bit helps hehe

Fake smog and Fake insurance. Then it will be fine. I can help you with the insurance. Also drive the Ortega highway. Really super fun curves so you could learn the route for when you break it in.

Agreed... Just don't be a ******** and go showing off on the main drag or burning out and raising attention to yourself. I'd go out in the evening on backroads and get out of town. Chances are your not going to get pulled over. If you do, explain the situation. Tell em you just spent several thousand on a rebuild and need to get the motor broke in before you can tune the computer where it will pass emissions. (Just bullshit em with a serious face) They will most liklely tell you that is a no no and you should take it home.

If it's a straight up race car...screw breaking it in. Just race it.

Rob, I like the way you think, kinda sounds like my hero Al Bundy to me. Unfortunately in my case my wife makes me register and insure both our cars.

My old mechanic (******* and a long story) had a race car, so the question was, How do you "break in" a race car. The answer was let it idle for a couple of hours!!

why stop just before LA... once you hit the SAN FERNANDO VALLEY area... your close to going all the way to santa clarito even more up north where authority is limited on the highways... the long strecth of road up north should do the trick... I heard that don't drive a new engine over 50mph within its first 3k just before your 1st oil change...

Idling and free-revving a motor in neutral are no good, neither is jacking up the rear tires. You need to put load on the engine. 2nd and 3rd gear pulls between 2500 and 4000 rpm, light to mid throttle are optimal for most street ports.

Then again, if this is a race-only car, why are you breaking it in? If you have a 7000-10,000 rpm powerband, and can't street drive it, then **** the break-in. You have a car for a single race season, not for daily driver longevity and reliability.

I've said this many times before- That the stock or even ported intake manifold will not flow enough air for the port design. Not to mention the stock afm. When I had my large street ported 6 port motor, it made good power from 5.5k+ to 9k rpms. The intake port design was very close to yours, and the exaust port shape was a peripheral port design. I made 180ish rwhp when it was in my repu. CJ

That's the best option.. go to a big mall and get on the good side of the head security guy there... do this:
1) Ask him how he got the job there, and how he got into security. LISTEN to what he says and be interested in what he says. Respond, keep asking questions. This should take at least ten minutes if you're interested in him and what he's got to say.
2) Ask him about his family, how he and his wife met, how many kids he's got, just talk with him, etc..
3) Somewhere in there, (maybe if you're talking about cars or something), mention your car. NOTE: In steps 1, 2, and 3, do NOT just go off on a tangent talking about yourself, he'll get bored and won't like listening to you probably. At the end of the conversation, mention that you've been looking for a place to break in your engine, but can't do it on the regular streets. Say these exact words "Can you give me some advice? If you were in my situation, what would you do?".

Trust me, try it, chances are, he'll say something like "Well, if the car isn't too loud, maybe you could come here late at night and drive it around. The security guys could be told that you're coming, and nobody is in the lot at 11:00 PM".

All you guys talking about driving around without insurance are a bunch of idiots. Im sorry and I dont mean to be rude but come on. The day an uninsured driver hits me is the day I'll go to jail for killing someone.
