Need a new exhaust??

About 10 months ago I blew the seals on one of my rotors. In order to get the car to where I was haveing the engine rebuilt I had to drive it over 500 miles with the blown seal. As a result I pushed a whole lot of unburnt fuel through the exhaust system. Well I made the trip OK and the engine got rebuilt so life was good.

My problem now is that I live in a county that requires emision control checks on all vehicles. I failed my check miserably with extremely high levels of hydrocarbons. I am thinking that I saturated my converters and mufflers with fuel during that trip with the blown engine and therefore I probably need to replace the entire exhaust system. Unsure if mufflers need to be replaced though.

So I am looking for an aftermarket exhaust system that I can purchase that might possibly give me a bit of a performance boost but still pass the emision checks. Do any of you have a suggestion as to what to look at and where to get it? Do I need to go back to the stock exhaust and if so where is the best place to buy the parts?

I have a '91 Vert with a non-turbo 13b engine. There is a mild street port on the engine, most everything else is stock except the air intake (still stock manifold) and electric fan.

I appreciate any suggestions you can provide.

Thanks in advance,

Devdude

P.S. I heard that there are places online where I can download the repair manuals. Could somebody provide a link?

you probably need some cats... if you're on a budget go with this guy..http://www.discountconverter.com/ i JUST bought the main cat from him, but i have to wait a few days to get it. if you want high-flow cats go with bonez... they are more expensive though.

this manual is for an 88 but i guess most of the stuff is the same. you'll need that adobe thingy to download it.
