Need more info....

about removing the air pump. First off, the split air pipe goes no where due to my new exhaust, and the hose now is just dangling in under my hood, becuase of my K&N filter.

With it just dangling there pumping air to nowhere (?) making a very loud noise, i want to remove it. But it says on the pump "never remove air pump - No Oiling"! so WTF ???

remove it anyway , or just disconnect the belts? Any other problems this will do to the engine performance? by the way '87 (non turbo)

Thanx for any info

I'm going through the same deal...
...I'm going to take the air pump off, along w/ its bracket, and belt. The split air pipe can just stay for now....taking off the air pump, from what I've heard sometimes affects your idle a lil...but nothing to worry about I guess. Also, it'll give you that .25HP you've always wanted
The biggest gain to removing it is just the extra weight that goes off w/ it.....

Yea, they say "DON'T REMOVE" because its an emissions part..if you remove it, you won't pass. But the only reason you'd remove it is if you don't have cats, and if you don't have cats, then you STILL won't pass inspection, so there is no reason to have the air pump. Dunno...just stupid law thing! If it really bugs ya..just take a black magic marker to it
Also, you may want to consider removing your ACV, I'm not just because I have to put cats back on in 11 months. Just a suggestion...

Oops, so are you saying that my mattress won't pass emissions now? Oh boy, I thought that it was OK to remove the label since I don't have any cats in the house. Man, am I in trouble now! Hmm, wait a minute, that marker trick sounds like a good idea...

Hey, just wanted to let you guys know that when you remove the air pump and ACV you also remove the Anti Afterburn valve - or what I like to call the No Backfire valve. It's gonna pop like crazy, and who knows? You may even throw flames. Have fun!

If you remove your airpump, your 6-port actuation won't work and you will be down 15% on power.
