Hi,

In short I have a 87 base rx7 it will fire up after a couple of trys then will die, it has been doing this for a week and Im really stumped. any help would be great. Yes I did search (if that was what you were going to say). More info below.

I bought a 87 rx 7 base na (approx 160k on it) a month ago, it has not ran very good since I bought it, but it got back and forth. Since I have owned this car, It idels around 2K, will drop to 1.5K but if it drops any lower it will die (it does that when I come to lights or if it idels to long). It stopped running a couple weeks back when we had a snow storm and the temps dropped in the 20s. I couldnt get it started for three days, I replaced the fuel filter (which didnt help) and my dad bump started me and When it started, it smoked (purple smoke) hella bad for a few mins till I drove it around the block. Ran okay (how it had before) for about three days then, it would start after a few trys rev up to 2k then die (if I gave it gas it would kill it faster). The battire is really good (alpha cell), it has gas, I opened the mafs yesterday beacuse it looked like someone opened it and glued it back up. The mafs looked and tested fine. The preivious owner put race cat on it so I dont think its cloged. He also removed the smog pump and some other emission stuff (the guy was kinda a idiot and really screwed with the car). It also has pretty new plugs in it and it is getting spark off both coils. I dont know a whole lot about rotories and have searched this fourm and checked the stuff that applied but I can figar it out. I would like to get it running good enouff this week so drop it off at a shop and have it tuned up. Any help would be great. Thanks Aaron.

 

Make sure the AFM in plugged in or try another one.
