An LS1 is a $8000 crate motor with all the excessories and all. I have a friend just bought one for his 68 Camaro. THAT doesnt include a tranny to handle all the power. Last time I checked a new T56 was like $3200. Salvage yards know what new ones go for and how in demand these pieces are the yards around DFW (dallas/ft worth) are asking $6-10k depending on the year but that does include everything. BUT no warrenty either unlike then new ones.
Food for thought.

I think that everything is covered by the web site:

Um, does the LS1 "crate" motor come with a flywheel, clutch, ECU, ignition, etc.? If it does, then your friend is still looking at spending about $14,000 USD on this project. Wouldn't it be easier just to buy a good used Camaro?
BTW, your friend could install a 550 hp 20BREW for about the same price as the 400 hp LS1.
where could he find the 20B and how reliable is it...he was goin to buy a 3rd gen but the unreliabilty turned him away from it...i dont know whats in the crate motor all i know is what he told me..does anyone know if the crate motor comes with everything you need? he found it for 4995 new

You can get a 20B-REW from Corksport and other importers for about $4,000 USD. Note that the 20B conversion isn't all that easy, either, although it will work with a TII drivetrain. Example:

That $4995 price sounds like a short block. If your friend doesn't know the difference between a short block and a long block, and doesn't know what is included in any of the $$$ packages that he is considering, then he should just go ahead and order whatever he likes because he can ask Darwain all about it later on.
